IMG_0071Ok, you guys. Brace yourselves. These are weird.

But in like a totally amazing way.

No, I am not crazy. Oh you guys!

Trust the Lauren.

I put these together on a whim a few days ago and believe it or not, they were amazing! Salty sweet chewy heaven. So tasty!!  They come together just as quickly as regular rice krispie treats, but with a more buttery salty bite. Suuuuper amazing and seriously had me craving these all day! Try them out and let me know what you think 🙂

Here’s how you make them:IMG_0013Start out with your ingredients: butter, vanilla, mini marshmallows and plain ruffles chips. IMG_0015Melt a little butter over medium low heat in a large pot. IMG_0017Add in the marshmallows and melt them down slowly.IMG_0018While the marshmallows are melting, chop up the chips to be bite size pieces. Or, just crush them in a bag…IMG_0023Back to the marshmallows: remove from the heat, add in a little vanilla…IMG_0030and stir that up real well.IMG_0039Then pour in the chopped up chips and stir to combine with the marshmallow.IMG_0063Pour that ooey-gooeyness into a lightly greased 9×9 pan and press down to flatten using buttered fingers. Cool to room temp, cut into bars and serve.  IMG_0086Hello my darlings….how are you?IMG_0096Super salty and sweet, plus soft and chewy from all those marshmallows! Give these a whirl and try them today. TO.DIE.FOR!!!

These look amazingly like I need to go buy a bag of chips! However, could you make a clarification, please? Your recipe says:

    6 cups crushed original ruffles chips, crushed {1 8-oz. bag}

Are we crushing then measuring 6 cups or measuring then crushing? Since you have crushed in twice it’s a bit confusing, though I’m assuming you mean 6 cups crushed?

I didnt have enough chips for the whole recipe so I used 1/2 rice crispy cereal and 1/2 crushed crushed ruffles mixture and it was wonderful! – Thanks so Much! Cant wait to try it with all chips. I might add some m&m’s next time too!

    I… but… did you just… GIMME.

One question though: did these tear the living hell out of the roof of your mouth?

Not that I am not willing to pay that small price.

I love a good salty-sweet snack. Especially one with potato chips!!

On a side note, I really have to remember everyone I “know” online, I won’t see in my everyday life. I almost waved to a woman at the children’s museum last night that looked JUST LIKE YOU! I live in Wisconsin. Thank goodness I caught myself.

Oh yeah- I can see how one’s first thought would be that it was strange. But when you really think about the salty & sweet – oh I think this could be a new addiction! YUM!

I am in!!! Never cared for Rice Krispie treats. This is a different animal. Thanks . Drizzle with chocolate and salted caramel. Bliss!

  17. KIM A

I usually make these with cornflakes rather than Rice Krispies. Definitely going to try these with chips! Yum. And do try with cornflakes, it’s a nice change also.

  18. Meagan @ A Zesty Bite

Well at least I don’t have to worry about eating just one chip. I can HAVE a whole bar of chips if I like. These treats are awesome.

  19. Becca @ Amuse Your Bouche

Oh my goooood you are a genius. These look SO good. Definitely starting to get into the sweet/savoury thing that I resisted for so long!
