I happen to love salmon. LOVE IT. This Asian Salmon Recipe is no different. Ginger and garlic together are a match made in heaven. I made a marinade, soaked this huge fillet in it, and then stuck it in the oven. Super easy and do-able. Even on a weekday. Serve it alongside some rice, couscous, or pasta, and voila! Dinner

Main Ingredients Needed

Here’s everything you’ll need to make this delicious Asian Salmon Recipe!

  • Fresh Salmon Filets – I use salmon, typically from Costco. Wild or farm-raised is fine. Whatever you can get your hands on is great, as long as it’s fresh.

The rest of the ingredients are for the Asian Salmon Marinade.

  • Soy Sauce – for that salty umami flavor.
  • Orange Juice – sweet citrus flavor.
  • Sesame Oil – for its subtle sesame flavor that is perfect for this Asian inspired dish.
  • Canola Oil – to help the marinade blend together.
  • Minced Garlic – a great staple item to enhance this dish.
  • Ground Ginger – once again for its flavor.
  • Agave Nectar – for sweetness. You could also use honey or sugar, just make sure to dissolve it all.
  • Ground Pepper – to balance out some of that sweetness.
  • Sesame Seeds – an optional garnish, but it makes the salmon look SO good.

Asian Salmon Marinade

The first step to this delicious recipe is this Asian Salmon Marinade. It will slightly change the color of your salmon but don’t be concerned, it’s all just good flavor.

  1. In a large Tupperware container, mix all ingredients together excluding the salmon. Place salmon in marinade, cover and refrigerate for an hour or so. The longer you marinate, the better!

How to Cook Salmon

Next is to bake your salmon. I have found fish, in general, bakes best at a high temperature for a shorter period of time. This Asian salmon is no different. I recommend baking at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until just baked. Of course, the time will vary slightly based on how thick your piece of fish is and if your oven runs hot or cold, but this is a great guideline.

  1. When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with foil. Place fish on foil and bake about 15 minutes {if baking one large filet} or about 10 minutes for individual portions.
  2. Top with sesame seeds and serve hot.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds fresh salmon fillets either individual portions or a whole half fish
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 3/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon agave nectar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
  • sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

    I struggle with making fish. I LOVE salmon but it has always turned out dry and bland, UNTIL this recipe! THANK YOU!! This makes for such a flavorful, moist fillet. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
