But First, What is a Moscow Mule?

A Moscow Mule is a cocktail made from vodka, ginger beer and lime juice! However the recipe I’m sharing with you today is the mocktail version, meaning it doesn’t have any alcohol in it.

Instead, I’ve infused this Ginger Beer Mocktail with simple syrup and added bubbly soda to the mix. So what looks like a Moscow Mule is actually a Moscow Mule Mocktail! Safe for kids and pregnant women and perfect for the holidays for a special occasion. Think a really gingery gingerale with a lime kick.

Basic Ingredients for a Non-Alcoholic Moscow Mule

6 ingredients and a couple of minutes later and you have amazing Ginger Beer Mocktails! This is a super simple drink recipe that even kids can enjoy! Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Ginger Beer – a non-alcoholic drink that provides all of the sharp ginger notes for this drink.
  • Lime Juice – for some tartness and freshness!
  • Simple Syrup – don’t be fooled by the ginger and lime, this mocktail is still sweet.
  • 7-Up or Sprite – either can be used here to provide sweet bubbly goodness.
  • Ice – to keep things cold!
  • Fresh Mint + Lime Wedges – these are used as garnishes but provide even more flavor!

Not necessary, but highly recommend this pellet ice maker! I have had it for years and am head over heels in love with it! Obviously if you are wanting the alcoholic version, feel free to add in vodka to make this a traditional Moscow Mule Cocktail instead of my version of a mocktail.

How to Make Ginger Beer Mocktails

This is certainly not rocket science, people. Simply stir all ingredients together and serve over ice! No need to shake, but highly recommend stirring.

  1. Stir ginger beer together with fresh lime juice, simply syrup and 7-up.
  2. Pour over ice and garnish with fresh mint and lime.

Variations to this Ginger Beer Mocktail Recipe

Even with the complex flavors already present in this Moscow Mule Mocktail recipe you can be creative and try these other variations!

  • Fruit: muddling some fruit in there brings out a whole other kind of sweetness that isn’t from the simple syrup. Try muddling watermelon, berries, other citrus fruits or even cranberries!
  • Heat: add more depth of flavor by adding some spice into this beverage. Slices of jalapenos work great, but so do serrano peppers.
  • Herbs: instead of garnishing with mint, switch it up and try garnishing with lavendar, sage or cilantro.
