Bridge the gap between lunch and dinner with this healthy and colorful after school cheese board! Filled with fruits, veggies, meats, and cheeses, your kids will be happy campers after school!

If kids are really hungry, then they’ll eat what is put in front of them. So, if they are ravenous beasts at 3:30 pm when we walk through the door (ahem…my kids!), I’ll serve this kid-friendly Cheese Board covered in fruits, vegetables, crackers, meats, and an array of cheeses. It’s easy to throw together in a pinch, can be changed based on what you have in the fridge, and is completely nutritious.

Kid-Friendly Cheese Board

Back to school is upon us! The school supplies are bought, new school clothes are all hung in the closet and we (mainly me!) are raring to go! Along with new school lunch ideas and the structured yet busy schedule is figuring out how to get kids from the school pickup line to dinner time without getting hangry, killing each other, or spoiling their appetites completely before dinner hits. That is why something like an After School Cheese Board is the ticket to healthy snacking to keep big appetites at bay, while still offering lots of nutritious options to choose from.

Use What You Have

For this specific cheese board, I used what I had on hand (carrots, tomatoes, salami, grapes, etc..) and then opened up several cheese snack bars to slice in half to fit better on the plantain chips and crackers. It isn’t a recipe per say, but more of an idea you can use this school year to bridge the gap between lunch and dinner.

Here are some other ideas :

  • berries
  • kiwi
  • banana slices
  • celery
  • a small bowl of hummus for dipping
  • trail mix
  • zucchini
  • oranges

I love a good snack board! Can’t wait to do this with my son- he’s only 19 months old and eats everything in sight. Can’t imagine what it will be like when he is school age. Gotta keep that hanger at bay 🙂
